1 MW solar power plant installed in Hunza with SIFC support
HUNZA, Jan 20: Gigit-Baltistan government, In collaboration with the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), installed a 1 MW solar power plant in the Hunza district of Gilgit-Baltistan.
This initiative, supported by a renowned solar company, aims to ensure an uninterrupted power supply for the region.
Fostered through a public-private partnership, the project is set to actively contribute to the generation of clean energy and the global fight against climate change. Nestled at an elevation of 2,800 meters above sea level, the plant, equipped with over 2,300 solar panels, will annually produce 1,600 MW of electricity catering to local households and industries.
The second phase of this endeavor is slated to include a 2 MW solar plant, scheduled for commissioning in 2024. This strategic move aligns with the provincial government's commitment to launching more renewable energy programs, addressing the power shortage prevalent in Gilgit-Baltistan.
