18 PTI Workers Acquitted in May 9 Cases by Anti-Terrorism Court

PESHAWAR: An Anti-Terrorism Court in Peshawar, presided over by Judge Muhammad Iqbal, acquitted 18 individuals, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers, accused in connection with the May 9 incidents due to a lack of evidence.

During the hearing, the prosecution alleged that the accused were involved in protests in Landi Kotal on May 9, where they blocked the Torkham Highway and caused damage to both public and private property, including an Anti-Narcotics Force vehicle. However, the prosecution was unable to substantiate the charges against the accused.

After reviewing the evidence, the court concluded that there was insufficient proof to convict the 18 defendants, leading to their acquittal.
