Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti's Assembly Membership Challenged
QUETTA: The membership of Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti in the provincial assembly has been challenged by Nawabzada Ghoram Bugti of the Democratic National Party. Ghoram Bugti has filed a request urging the immediate declaration of the PB 10 seat as vacant and the subsequent holding of a by-election.
The challenge stems from allegations questioning Sarfraz Bugti's eligibility to contest elections from the PB 10 Constituency. Ghoram Bugti asserts that as a part of the caretaker cabinet, Sarfraz Bugti was ineligible to run for office. Furthermore, he contests the validity of the voting process, claiming that the reported voting rates of 80 to 99 percent are dubious and warrant verification.
Sarfraz Bugti, who recently assumed office as Chief Minister of Balochistan, has been vocal about his plans for youth empowerment and economic development in the province. He emphasized the need for increased revenue generation and outlined a vision to export Balochistan's youth talents globally.
Bugti also highlighted the significance of Balochistan's role in the national economy, stressing the necessity of a comprehensive roadmap for optimal implementation of development initiatives. Despite challenges and grievances, he expressed commitment to resolving issues through dialogue within the constitutional framework, indicating a willingness to work with the federation towards mutual progress.
The matter now stands pending as the provincial assembly deliberates on the challenge raised by Ghoram Bugti, shedding light on the complexities surrounding political representation and governance in Balochistan.
