Chairman PCB Directs Formation of Committee for Stadium Upgradation

LAHORE: Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, has directed the formation of a 3-member committee tasked with overseeing the upgrade of Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi stadiums.

According to PCB official, a crucial meeting was convened at the PCB Headquarters, Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, to deliberate on the upgrade plans for these three major stadiums. Recognizing the urgency of the situation with less than a year left to organize mega events, Naqvi emphasized the need for swift action, citing existing delays in the process.

The directive from Chairman Naqvi entails the immediate engagement of an international consultant to spearhead the transformation of Gaddafi Stadium, National Stadium Karachi, and Rawalpindi Stadium. The committee, comprising directors of infrastructure, domestic cricket, and international cricket, will be tasked with overseeing the hiring process in accordance with international standards and regulations, ensuring the implementation of world-class facilities across the stadiums.

Crucially, Naqvi underscored the importance of enhancing the spectator experience, directing the installation of nishts in stadium enclosures, each equipped with a numbered system for the convenience of cricket enthusiasts. Additionally, upgrades to the live stream screens and provisions for the replacement of stadium floodlights were also highlighted as priorities.

With these directives in place, the PCB is poised to embark on a transformative journey, setting the stage for a new era of cricketing excellence in Pakistan.
