Chief Justice Alia Neelam Saves National Treasury: Withdraws Notification for Costly Court Equipment

Lahore : Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court, Miss Alia Neelam, has taken decisive action to curb additional court expenses by withdrawing a costly notification for new video link equipment. The notification, originally issued on June 7, has been rescinded, saving the national treasury an estimated one billion rupees.

Registrar Abhar Gul Khan confirmed that the video link system is already in place for session judges in Punjab courts, with hearings currently conducted via video link across all subordinate courts in the province. He also noted that all subordinate judiciary judges are equipped with laptops and Wi-Fi, rendering the new equipment unnecessary.

This move addresses concerns over the financial burden imposed by the former registrar’s notification for additional equipment. Chief Justice Neelam’s decision underscores her commitment to financial prudence and efficient use of public resources.
