Contempt Petition Filed Against Adiala Jail Superintendent for Denying Meeting with PTI Founder

Islamabad, Mar 12: A contempt of court petition has been lodged against the superintendent of Adiala Jail by Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, chairman of Majlis Wahdat al-Muslimeen, for refusing a court-sanctioned meeting with the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). The legal action seeks to address the alleged disregard of explicit court instructions.

The controversy arose when, despite a court order dated March 8 permitting a visit, jail authorities reportedly stalled the petitioners from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on March 11, ultimately denying the meeting. The petition underscores the jail superintendent's non-compliance as a breach of court orders, prompting calls for contempt proceedings.

In a press statement, Allama Raja Nasir highlighted the severity of the issue, stating, "There is a law even in the jungle; here, the situation is worse." He expressed frustration over the jail authorities' refusal to allow the meeting, even after being presented with a certified copy of the court's directive.

The Islamabad High Court has been approached to address this alleged defiance, with the petitioners seeking justice and adherence to legal protocols. The case underscores growing concerns over legal rights and the treatment of political figures in custody.
