Court Upholds 7-Year Imprisonment for Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi in Iddat Nikah Case

ISLAMABAD: District and Sessions Court Islamabad has rejected the request for suspension of sentence by former Prime Minister and founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan, and his wife Bushra Bibi in the dissolution of marriage case. The central appeals in the case are still under hearing. District and Sessions Judge Aziz Majoka delivered the reserved verdict.
It should be noted that on June 25, the District and Sessions Court Islamabad had reserved its decision on the plea for suspension of sentence in the case of former Prime Minister Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi regarding dissolution of marriage, while hearings on the central appeals in the case were postponed until July 2.
On June 21, Islamabad's District and Sessions Court had postponed the hearing on the plea for suspension of sentence in the case of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi regarding dissolution of marriage until June 25.
On June 14, during the hearing, Islamabad's District and Sessions Court postponed the hearings on appeals for suspension of sentence filed by former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi until June 21. During this time, Judge Aziz Majoka stated that if I remain alive, I will decide in 10 days.
On June 13, Islamabad's District and Sessions Court had fixed an early hearing date for the case of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi regarding dissolution of marriage, and issued remarks during the hearing on the plea for suspension of sentence by Judge Aziz Majoka, saying that the case has been referred for lack of confidence twice before, no decision can create difficulties.
On June 11, Islamabad's Sessions Court had postponed the early hearing and plea for suspension of sentence in the case of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi regarding dissolution of marriage until June 13.
On June 7, Islamabad's District and Sessions Court had fixed the early hearing date for the appeals against the sentence in the case of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi during the dissolution of marriage, and postponed the hearing on the plea for suspension of sentence until June 11.
It should be remembered that on June 4, Islamabad's District and Sessions Court had called for evidence on the plea for early hearing and suspension of sentence in the case of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi regarding dissolution of marriage.
During the hearing, Bushra Bibi's lawyer Salman Safdar adopted the position that evidence has been presented since February in the dissolution of marriage case, and Bibi is also ill. Judge Aziz Majoka issued remarks that the file of the marriage case has been marked killed in addiction, the case has been called five times, nothing has been presented, therefore, the date of June 25 for hearing in the dissolution of marriage case. It should be noted that on June 3, during the hearing, the Islamabad High Court had accepted the request to transfer the case of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi to the second court.
It should be remembered that during the hearing on May 29, former First Lady Bushra Bibi's former husband Khawar Maneka had protested against Judge Shah Rukh Arjmand.
During the courtroom, Khawar Maneka had a conversation with the session judge that transfer our case to another court, session judge Shah Rukh Arjmand issued remarks that the request for non-confidence has already been dismissed.
Upon which Khawar Maneka said to the judge that I do not want to get a decision from you, the judge said that what is the reason for it?
Khawar Maneka said that I do not know, but the founder PTI did the same in the past courts, session judge Shah Rukh Arjmand said that there is talk, tell us if there is any solid reason?
Khawar Maneka said that the PTI workers are transferred from the camera court that the judge is sitting and the PTI employees are dancing.
After which the District and Sessions Courts Judge Shah Rukh Arjmand wrote a letter to the Registrar Islamabad High Court to transfer the appeals to another court.
In the letter, he wrote that Khawar Maneka has expressed his non-confidence in the court, the request for non-confidence has already been dismissed on the previous court, appeals of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in the dissolution of marriage case are being transferred to another court, complainant and his lawyer Delaying tactics are used, a court time frame should be set for decisions on appeals.
On February 3, the Special Court sentenced former Prime Minister and founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, and his wife Bushra Bibi to seven years' imprisonment in the marriage dissolution case.
On January 31, the Islamabad High Court had reserved its decision on the requests of PTI's Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi to dismiss the marriage dissolution case.
Earlier, on January 18, Imran Khan had filed a case during the marriage dissolution proceedings, which was sent to the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court.
However, it should be noted that on January 16, charges were framed against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in the marriage dissolution case.
On January 15, Bushra Bibi also challenged the invalid marriage case in the Islamabad High Court. The case was filed on her request on January 17 and sent to the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court.
