CTD KP arrest 322 terrorists, kill 124 during 1433 operations in 2024
PESHAWAR, June 30: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has released a report detailing its operations and successes in countering terrorism threats so far in 2024.
The report highlights a proactive approach by the CTD, with 1433 intelligence-based operations conducted against terrorist groups. These efforts have resulted in the thwarting of 55 potential terrorist attacks, potentially saving countless lives.
The CTD has also made significant strides in apprehending and neutralizing terrorists. A total of 322 terrorists have been arrested, while 124 have been killed in operations. The report credits these actions with dismantling several prominent terrorist groups, including the Mohsin Qadir Group, Betni Padakie Group, Tipu Gul Group, and Zarar Group. Additionally, the CTD reports the elimination of key commanders and associates from the Sunta Group and TTP Gandapur Group.
Law enforcement has also focused on disrupting terrorist networks. 14 suspects involved in the smuggling of explosives were apprehended. Furthermore, a targeted approach was implemented by placing bounties on the heads of 18 high-profile terrorists. This strategy yielded significant results, with 10 of the most wanted individuals arrested and 8 killed in CTD operations.
Despite these successes, the report acknowledges the ongoing threat of terrorism. 273 terrorist attacks were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa this year, with 118 police officers specifically targeted.
The CTD's report underscores the ongoing battle against terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. While significant progress has been made, the department's continued vigilance remains crucial in ensuring the safety and security of the province's residents.
