ECP bans appointments and transfers ahead of Islamabad local body elections

Islamabad, Aug 15: The Election Commission has imposed a ban on all appointments and transfers within Islamabad's administrative institutions in a bid to ensure a fair and impartial local body election process.
According to sources, any important appointments or transfers will now require prior permission from the Election Commission. This move comes as the city gears up for local body elections scheduled for September 29.
The Returning Officer has issued a public notice detailing the election timeline: nomination papers will be accepted from August 16 to 20, scrutiny of candidates’ papers will occur from August 22 to 26, and election symbols will be allotted on September 6.
