ECP Grants PTI Extension for Document Submission in Intra-Party Election Case
Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has granted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) additional time to submit documents related to its intra-party elections.
A 3-member ECP panel, led by Member Sindh Nisar Durrani, reviewed the case today. During the proceedings, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s member questioned the legitimacy of PTI’s authority in conducting party elections, highlighting concerns about the party’s organizational status.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan assured that while there are no objections to the elections themselves, there are a few technical and legal issues that need addressing. Khan requested an extension, citing that police had confiscated all relevant documents from PTI’s Central Secretariat, including basic office supplies like the water dispenser.
The ECP has adjourned the case and will announce a new date for the hearing. The issue was initially scheduled for review on July 13.
