ECP wraps up ballot paper printing for general elections, 85% delivered

ISLAMABAD, Feb 03: The Election Commission has successfully concluded the printing of ballot papers for the upcoming general elections, with 85% of the ballots already dispatched, according to Director General Political Finance, Masood Akhtar Sherwani.

Briefing on the printing process, Sherwani disclosed that all 859 constituencies' ballot papers have been printed, encompassing millions of ballots, including green for the National Assembly and white for the Provincial Assembly. Notably, the printing took place across three government institutions with heightened security measures.

Sherwani detailed the ballot paper breakdown: 5% single column, 50% double column, 30% three column, 11.15% four column, and 2.4% five column ballot papers. The significant increase in candidates, up by 54.74% from 2018, led to a 194.75% rise in the need for special paper. Despite a 10% wastage during printing, the Election Commission reduced the requirement for special paper from 2400 tons to 2170 tons by optimizing the ballot size.
