Edible Oil Spill Chaos in Karachi as Tanker Overturns Near Vita Chowrangi

KARACHI, Feb 18: Chaos ensued in the Korangi Industrial Area of Karachi as a tanker carrying edible oil overturned near Vita Chowrangi, resulting in a massive spillage of oil onto the road. The incident occurred on Sunday morning, leading to significant disruptions in traffic movement.

Eyewitnesses reported that the spillage occurred after the tanker overturned near Weta Chowrangi, causing edible oil to flood the surrounding area and impede the flow of vehicles. Promptly responding to the accident, local residents gathered at the scene in large numbers, utilizing plastic drums and containers to collect the spilled oil.

Authorities, including local police and traffic police, swiftly arrived at the scene to manage the situation. They cordoned off the area around the overturned tanker and dispersed the gathered crowd to prevent any further complications.

Preliminary investigations by the police revealed that the accident occurred when a water tanker and the oil tanker collided near Vita Chowrangi. While the water tanker remained unscathed, the oil tanker toppled over, spilling thousands of liters of edible oil onto the road.

Thankfully, the driver and cleaner of the oil tanker emerged unharmed from the accident. Efforts were then undertaken by the traffic police to remove the overturned tanker from the road using a crane. Additionally, measures such as the placement of mud dumpers were implemented to facilitate the drying of the road surface, ensuring the safety of vehicles and motorcycles passing through the area.

As cleanup operations continue, authorities are working diligently to restore normalcy to the affected area and mitigate any potential hazards posed by the oil spill.
