Election Commission vehemently denies Rawalpindi Commissioner's rigging claims

The Election Commission of Pakistan categorically refuted allegations of manipulation in the election of Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Liaquat Ali Chatta. Responding to Chatta's press conference, a spokesperson firmly denied all accusations, emphasizing that neither the Chief Election Commissioner nor any other official instructed him to alter results.

The spokesperson clarified that division commissioners, including Chatta, hold no role as District Returning Officers (DROs), Returning Officers (ROs), or Presiding Officers, and therefore aren't directly involved in conducting elections.

This statement comes after Chatta, during a press conference, shockingly confessed to manipulating the electoral outcome in Rawalpindi Division, awarding an illegitimate 50,000 vote lead and resigning on grounds of conscience. He further implicated the Election Commission, Chief Election Commissioner, and Chief Justice of Pakistan in the alleged scheme, demanding their resignations.

The Election Commission's swift denial throws the controversy wide open, with investigations to follow and public trust hanging in the balance.
