Election Tribunal Orders Submission of Forms in NA-46 Rigging Case
Islamabad: The Election Tribunal has directed the Returning Officer to submit Forms 45, 46, and 47 in the case of alleged rigging in Islamabad's NA-46 constituency.
The hearing of the election petition filed by PTI candidate Amir Mughal against Anjum Aqeel Khan took place at the Islamabad High Court's Election Tribunal, presided over by Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri.
During the hearing, the Election Commission's lawyer stated that they had not received copies of the petitions but had already submitted Forms 45, 46, and 47.
The court instructed the petitioner to provide copies to the Election Commission and reiterated the order for the Returning Officer to submit the required forms. The Returning Officer's lawyer requested additional time, stating that he had been made a party to the case only the previous day.
Anjum Aqeel Khan argued that Amir Mughal's petition was inadmissible due to procedural deficiencies. The court instructed Amir Mughal's lawyer to respond to Khan's objections and inquired about the date of Khan's victory notification. Mughal's lawyer informed the court that the notification was dated February 19, while the Election Commission's lawyer stated it was February 13, arguing that Mughal's petition was filed after the stipulated time had passed.
Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri remarked that the court would make a decision in accordance with the law. The case was adjourned until July 22, following the month of Muharram.
