Fan wearing Pakistani shirt expelled during India-England Test

(Web Desk) - A Pakistani fan was removed from Old Trafford Cricket Ground during an England-India Test match for refusing to cover his Pakistan cricket team jersey.

Farooq Nazar was given two option by the security team: Cover your shirt or leave the ground. He preferred the second choice.

Farrooq shared the video on social media in which the ground staff and police official asked him to cover his shirt. But, he refused.

Registering serious protest over the action of the police, he said he had the match ticket and no one in the ground had raised objection on his outfit. Moreover, he said he had registered complaints before the English Cricket Board and local administration.

Cricket, which unite people across borders, has seen instances of friction before, particularly in the context of India-Pakistan political tensions. But for a neutral fixture such as India vs England, such a restriction on fan attire is rare and, many would argue, unnecessary.

As the game continues to promote itself among the global fraternity, moments like these serve as a wakeup call that the spirit of the game must be preserved not just on the field, but in the stands also.
