FBR forms 4 technical committees to digitize tax system and combat evasion
ISLAMABAD, May 30: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has formed four specialized technical committees dedicated to implementing a comprehensive tax system digitization project and to enhance tax collection and curb evasion. This initiative, approved by FBR Chairman Amjad Towana, aims to modernize the tax infrastructure, expand the tax net, and streamline tax processes.
The committees, tasked with providing expert technical guidance to a consulting firm, are aligned with clear terms of reference. These committees are pivotal to the success of the digitization project, ensuring the integration of advanced technology into the tax system.
The first committee, comprising 10 members, focuses on IRS Supply Chain Digitization. It will support the consulting firm on key components such as the track and trace system, point of sale integration, and digital invoicing. Members of this committee include Abbas Ahmed Mir, Abdul Jawad, Zaheer Qureshi, Iqbal Khan, Munir Ahmed Chaudhry, Khalid Sultan, Qayyum Rani, Ahmed Shakeel, Abdul Rahman, and Faheem Ahmed.
A second nine-member committee has also been constituted, featuring experts like Naeem Hassan, Asif Rashid, Naveed Ahmed, Samar Abbas, Muhammad Sulaiman, Bilal Qasim, Miss Sajal, Faizan Zaidi, and Muhammad Ashraf.
For the digitization of business processes, a third 10-member committee has been established. This group includes Irshad Hussain, Gibran Masroor, Javed Iqbal, Asif Rasheed, Azhar Jahangir, Nafisa Bano, Bilal Zameer, Zahra Farooq, and Mehwish Khan.
Finally, the fourth committee, consisting of seven members, will focus on third-party data integration, data analytics, and customer relationship management (CRM). Members are Yasmin Yusuf, Umar Riaz, Rafia Ilyas, Masood Gursi, Benish Arooj, and Usman Rashid.
This strategic move by the FBR signals a significant step towards modernizing Pakistan’s tax system, aiming to increase efficiency and reduce tax evasion through technological advancements.
