FBR officials allegedly misuse millions on vehicle repairs and petrol
ISLAMABAD, Aug 15: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is under scrutiny after a report by the Auditor General of Pakistan revealed that officials allegedly misappropriated Rs. 21.2 million on vehicle repairs and petrol.
According to the audit, FBR officers incurred these expenses without the necessary approvals, and the expenditure on petroleum products and vehicle repairs for the fiscal years 2021-22 and 2022-23 was deemed unauthorized. The report highlights 258 such cases across 54 field offices.
The Auditor General has instructed the FBR to identify and hold accountable those responsible for these financial irregularities. The lack of accountability and oversight in managing these funds has raised serious concerns about financial governance within the organization.
