Federal Cabinet Approves Ban on Banana and Onion Exports

Islamabad, March 12: The federal cabinet, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, has sanctioned a temporary ban on the export of bananas and onions until April 15. The decision aims to ensure an ample supply of these essential commodities, particularly during the upcoming Ramadan period. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the need for stringent measures against unjustified price hikes and illegal profiteering, stressing that any lapses in price control would not be tolerated.

During the cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif outlined the government's roadmap and directed the immediate establishment of a committee to monitor and regulate food prices. He underscored the government's commitment to combat inflation and expedite actions against hoarders to facilitate the provision of affordable food items to the public, especially during Ramadan.

Efforts are underway to utilize all available resources to maintain the availability of goods at reasonable prices during the holy month. Additionally, the cabinet approved Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb's request to regain Pakistani citizenship and endorsed the appointment of Major General Abdul Moeed as the Director General of the Anti-Narcotics Force (DGANF).

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed the government's dedication to alleviating the burden of inflation on the common man, emphasizing the equitable distribution of subsidies and the efficient operation of utility stores. He underscored that ensuring fixed prices and adequate availability of goods remains a top priority, particularly amidst the prevailing challenge of inflation.

The government is determined to collaborate with provincial authorities to effectively regulate food prices and ensure the uninterrupted availability of essential items. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated the government's commitment to taking decisive action against any distortions in prices or shortages of essential products.
