Federal Cabinet Approves Electricity Tariff Hikes Across Multiple Sectors
ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet has given the green light to increase electricity tariffs for commercial, agricultural, and bulk consumers, effective from July.
Commercial consumers will face an increase of Rs. 8.04 per unit, bringing their tariff to Rs. 77.15 per unit. Agricultural consumers will see a hike of Rs. 6.62 per unit, raising their tariff to Rs. 46.83 per unit. General services will experience a rise of Rs. 6.98 per unit, setting their tariff at Rs. 61.03 per unit. Meanwhile, bulk consumers will encounter an increase of Rs. 5.51 per unit, with their tariff reaching Rs. 59.96 per unit from July.
Industrial consumers, however, will maintain their current tariff rates as the federal cabinet's decision is communicated to Nepra by the power division.
The approved hikes aim to address financial sustainability in the energy sector amidst ongoing challenges.
