FIA Balochistan recovers huge quantity of Counterfeit Medicines during crackdown

QUETTA, Mar 29: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in Balochistan has intensified its efforts to combat the sale of counterfeit medicines during the ongoing lockdown in the province.
A spokesperson for the FIA revealed a series of successful raids conducted across various regions. These operations resulted in the seizure of a significant amount of counterfeit drugs and the registration of four inquiries against individuals involved in the illegal activity.
A collaborative effort between the FIA's Anti-Corruption Circle Quetta and the district administration led to a significant raid on a store in Hazar Ganji. The operation yielded over 100 types of unregistered and counterfeit medicines, including antibiotics, painkillers, and even life-saving drugs.
FIA Chaman also conducted raids on three medical stores on Power House Road. Suspicious medicines were confiscated from these stores and are currently undergoing investigation by the concerned authorities. Inquiries have already been initiated against the suspected store owners.
The FIA spokesperson highlighted the agency's ongoing commitment to tackling this serious issue. Over the past two weeks alone, the FIA Balochistan Zone has conducted 33 raids, resulting in the seizure of a substantial quantity of counterfeit medicines and the registration of 21 inquiries.
The FIA's proactive approach aims to safeguard public health by eliminating the sale of counterfeit medicines. The agency will take further action against all suspects based on the reports submitted by the authorities, spokesperson said.
