FIA probes NADRA officials over issuance of Pakistani ID Cards to Afghan nationals
KARACHI, June 04: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has launched a thorough investigation into the issuance of Pakistani identity cards to Afghan citizens, demanding detailed records from the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).
The FIA Anti-Human Trafficking Circle has formally requested NADRA to provide comprehensive details regarding six Pakistani identity cards allegedly issued to foreign nationals. In a letter, the FIA has sought information on the personnel involved in processing these ID cards, including system logins and details of form verifiers.
Central to the investigation is an Afghan citizen named Zardad, who reportedly acquired an identity card under the name Mohibullah. The FIA has arrested Zardad and is scrutinizing the role of NADRA officials in this matter. Additionally, the FIA is investigating the issuance of identity cards to four other individuals, including the alleged mother of Mohibullah, Ameeran Bibi.
NADRA has been instructed to present all relevant records and appear before the Director Operations of Regional Headquarters NADRA as part of the ongoing investigation. The agency is determined to uncover the extent of the involvement of NADRA officials in facilitating this fraudulent issuance of identity cards.
