FIA seizes counterfeit medicines worth Rs. 7 Million
KARACHI, May 09: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) State Bank Circle and the Drug Regulatory Authority Karachi In a joint operation have apprehended a man Muhammad Fahad for possession and distribution of counterfeit and unregistered medicines.
According to FIA spokesperson, the operation took place in the Garden East area of Karachi, where authorities seized medications manufactured in France, Ireland, Turkey, and the United Kingdom. These medicines, intended for heart diseases, cancer, diabetes, hypertension, and other ailments, were being sold by Fahad from his residence.
The estimated value of the confiscated drugs exceeds Rs. 7 million. Preliminary investigations revealed that Fahad was illegally selling these medicines under the guise of authorized dealerships. A case has been registered against him, and efforts are underway to apprehend other individuals involved in the illicit trade.
In another operation, the FIA Immigration Circle at Karachi Airport intercepted a passenger attempting to travel to Bosnia with counterfeit travel documents. According to FIA, the passenger, Muhammad Irfan, was booked on flight number PC131. It was discovered that Irfan possessed a fake visa for Bosnia, which he had obtained from an unauthorized agent. Subsequently, Irfan was transferred to the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle in Karachi for further legal proceedings. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
