FIA summons Shandana Gulzar over allegations against Maryam Nawaz

LAHORE, Mar 09: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has issued a summons to Shandana Gulzar, a newly elected member of National Assembly from NA-30 and prominent member of Tehreek-e-Insaf, following a written complaint filed by Shoaib Mirza. The notice directs Gulzar to appear at the FIA Cyber Crime Reporting Center in Lahore on March 14th, regarding allegations of campaigning against state authorities and inciting public sentiment.

The allegations stem from Gulzar's accusations against Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, claiming she was involved in the death of PTI activist Zule Shah. Gulzar cited alleged videos where Nawaz purportedly ordered Shah's killing.

Responding to the summons, Uzma Bukhari, spokesperson for the Punjab government, demanded evidence of the alleged audio implicating Maryam Nawaz. Bukhari emphasized the importance of maintaining respect for institutions and condemned Gulzar's actions as insulting to Pakistan.

In her remarks to the media in Lahore, Bukhari reiterated that baseless accusations and insults against public figures cannot be tolerated. She stressed the need for Gulzar to provide evidence to support her claims or face legal consequences.

The unfolding controversy underscores the significance of responsible social media usage and the ramifications of levying serious accusations without substantial evidence.
