Former PM Nawaz Sharif's bodyguard indicted for assault in London
LONDON: Farid Nimuchi, the bodyguard of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif, has been formally charged in London for "common assault" after allegedly spitting on a woman.
According to media reports, the Crown Prosecution Service in the UK has taken action against Nimuchi following a complaint lodged by the woman, identified as Panzani Cheema. The incident occurred last September when Cheema approached Nawaz Sharif's vehicle, attempting to film and question the former Prime Minister.
As Cheema knocked on the car window and saluted Nawaz Sharif, she reportedly referred to him as a 'very corrupt politician'. Following this interaction, Nimuchi allegedly spat at Cheema before driving away. The incident was captured on Cheema's phone and later went viral on social media platforms.
The formal indictment now sets the stage for legal proceedings against Nimuchi, marking a significant development in the case that has garnered public attention both in Pakistan and abroad.
