Former President Arif Alvi Allotted Government House in Karachi's Bath Island

KARACHI, March 12: Dr. Arif Alvi, the former President of Pakistan, has been allocated a government residence in Bath Island, Karachi, in accordance with para B-2 of the President Pension Act's schedule. The State Management Office of the government has officially communicated this allocation to the Secretary Presidential Secretariat.

Dr. Arif Alvi resigned from his presidential duties following the election of the new President on March 9. A farewell guard of honor ceremony was organized in honor of the former President at the President's House, where the armed forces paid tribute by presenting a guard of honor. Subsequently, Dr. Arif Alvi personally bid farewell to the staff of the President's House.

Prior to his resignation, Dr. Arif Alvi vacated the President's House and relocated to the residence designated for former presidents. His constitutional term in office had concluded in September 2023, having been sworn in as the President of Pakistan in September 2018. However, due to the incomplete Electoral College, he continued to serve in office for more than six months beyond his original term.

Dr. Arif Alvi assumed office as the 13th President of Pakistan on September 9, 2018, with the swearing-in ceremony held at the Presidential Palace.

The allocation of a government residence in Karachi marks the next phase in Dr. Arif Alvi's post-presidential life, as he transitions from his official duties to private life.
