Former Supreme Court Judge Mushir Alam declines ad hoc appointment

Islamabad, July 6 (INP): Former Supreme Court Justice Retired Mushir Alam has declined to serve as an ad hoc judge, citing personal reasons in a letter addressed to the Judicial Commission.
In his letter, Justice Retired Mushir Alam expressed gratitude for the honor bestowed upon him by the Judicial Commission but apologized for declining the appointment in the current circumstances. Meanwhile, retired Justice Sardar Tariq Masood and retired Justice Mazhar Alam Mian Khel have reportedly consented to their appointments as ad hoc judges, while retired Justice Maqbool Baqir's response is awaited by the Supreme Court Registrar.
An upcoming Judicial Commission meeting scheduled for July 19 will deliberate on the appointment of four ad hoc judges to the Supreme Court, aimed at alleviating case backlogs and expediting justice delivery.
Sources indicate that the meeting will consider the nominations of Justice Retired Sardar Tariq Masood, Justice Retired Maqbool Baqir, Justice Retired Mushir Alam, and Justice Retired Mazhar Alam Mian Khel for these critical judicial appointments.
