Four postal workers arrested for embezzling millions in Peshawar

PESHAWAR, July 12: Four employees of the Postal Department have been arrested for embezzling millions of rupees from consumer and dead accounts.
According to the FIA spokesperson, over 30 million rupees were misappropriated in a corruption case involving the Abbottabad Postal Department. The FIA's Composite Circle Abbottabad conducted an operation leading to the arrest of the four implicated postal workers.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Hafiz, Waheed, Hamid, and Khalil, all employees of the Abbottabad Postal Department. Their arrests followed the revocation of their bail by the Special Judge Central Anti-Corruption Abbottabad.
The suspects are accused of embezzling funds from savings accounts at the General Post Office (GPO) in Abbottabad. They face allegations of manipulating deceased customers' accounts and dead accounts, as well as irregularities in profit and loss statements and mishandling of zakat and tax rates. The total corruption amount exceeds 30 million rupees. The four men are now in custody as investigations continue.
