Government Takes Action to Resolve Passport Delays with New Printing Machines

Islamabad: The longstanding issue of passport delays in Pakistan is nearing resolution as the government steps up its efforts to address the crisis.

In a decisive move, the authorities have decided to import additional passport printing machines to alleviate the backlog. The Director General of Passports and Immigration has prepared a requisition, which has been sent to the Ministry of Interior for approval.

According to sources, the new machines are expected to arrive from abroad by September. The equipment includes six desktop printers and two e-passport machines, each capable of printing up to 1,000 passports per hour.

Passport officials have reported that delays have plagued the system for over a year, primarily due to a shortage of paper and the limited capacity of existing machinery. The introduction of these new machines aims to significantly improve the efficiency of passport processing across the country.
