Hamad Azhar’s NA papers rejected, provincial assembly accepted
LAHORE, Jan 07 (INP): PTI leader Hamad Azhar faced a setback as his nomination papers for the National Assembly seat were rejected, while those for the Provincial Assembly seat were accepted.
The verdict was pronounced by the Appellate Tribunal judge, Justice Tariq Nadeem, who upheld the decision of the Returning Officer in the case of NA 129.
The Appellate Tribunal judge dismissed Hamad Azhar's appeal for NA 129, affirming the Returning Officer's initial decision. The nomination papers of both Hamad Azhar and his father, Mian Azhar, were also rejected for PP 171.
Despite the Returning Officer's rejection, the Appellate Tribunal had previously declared Hamad Azhar and Mian Azhar eligible for the election, creating a contrasting scenario.
In a parallel development, the Appellate Tribunal of the Lahore High Court dismissed appeals by Sanam Javed against the rejection of papers for Constituency NA 119 and 120.
It's noteworthy that Sanam Javed had submitted papers from NA 119 and 120 while declaring an intention to contest the election from jail.
Additionally, Sanam had announced plans to go head-to-head with Maryam Nawaz in the upcoming election.
