IG Sindh orders cracks down on alleged corruption in CTD
KARACHI, May 22: IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon has launched a rigorous inquiry into the release of a suspect in CTD Civil Line allegedly facilitated by a police party in exchange for monetary gain.
Following the startling revelation, IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon has initiated stern action against the officers involved in the controversial release of an accused individual by a police contingent in CTD Civil Line, purportedly in exchange for financial incentives.
Two high-ranking officers from the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) have been promptly removed from their positions in the wake of the unfolding scandal. SSP CTD Operation Imran Shaukat and DSP CTD Operation Sohail Akhtar Silhari have both been relieved of their duties, with notifications issued for their immediate reassignment to the CPO.
Sources privy to the matter divulged that IG Sindh has mandated a comprehensive assessment of the assets belonging to officers and personnel engaged in counter-terrorism endeavors over an extended period. This scrutiny encompasses an examination of their residences, bank accounts, personal vehicles, and passports.
The recent arrests come in the aftermath of a raid conducted by Sindh Rangers, resulting in the apprehension of the implicated police team responsible for the controversial release during the CTD Civil Line operation. The incident unfolded on the 19th when CTD detained the alleged suspect, identified as Alian, who had arrived in Karachi from overseas. Subsequently, demands for ransom emerged in exchange for his release, sparking an uproar within law enforcement circles.
