IHC Reserves Verdict on PTI Founder's Plea to Suspend Toshakhana Case Sentence

ISLAMABAD, The Islamabad High Court on Monday has reserved its judgment on the petition filed by the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) seeking to suspend his sentence in the Toshakhana criminal case. The court heard arguments from both sides before reserving its decision.

Representing the PTI founder, lawyer Sardar Latif Khosa expressed surprise at the Election Commission's decision, questioning its motives and potential bias. Khosa argued that the commission's actions appear driven by personal satisfaction rather than adherence to legal principles.

He further elaborated on previous legal precedents where sentences were suspended pending appeal, citing the cases of Javed Hashmi and Makhdoom Amin Fahim as examples. Khosa emphasized that the three Supreme Court judges who delivered the verdict in the Toshakhana case are all slated to become Chief Justice, highlighting the importance of adhering to legal precedent and ensuring a fair judicial process.
