IHC Summons IG Islamabad and JIT Chief in Arshad Sharif Murder Case
Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court, under Chief Justice Justice Aamir Farooq, has taken a decisive step in the investigation of the Arshad Sharif murder case, summoning the IG Islamabad and JIT head in a personal capacity.
During the hearing requesting the formation of a judicial commission to probe Arshad Sharif's murder, the court has summoned IG Islamabad and the JIT head personally, alongside summoning the Attorney General for judicial assistance on July 25.
Police informed the court that red warrants have been issued for two suspects, Waqar and Khurram, currently residing in Kenya. Additional Attorney General Manoor Iqbal Dogal informed the court that the JIT has completed its investigation within Pakistan's jurisdiction, with ongoing consultations with Kenya regarding mutual legal assistance. The JIT has conducted 44 meetings on the case.
Chief Justice Aamir Farooq commented on the proceedings, stating his detachment from the 44 meetings and urging clarity on the progress made. The Additional Attorney General clarified the challenges in international cooperation, particularly with Kenya.
The Chief Justice emphasized the need for concrete outcomes, instructing the Attorney General to personally attend the court and provide updates on the case. The hearing was adjourned until July 25, awaiting further developments in this high-profile case.
