IHC to Hear PTI Founder, Bushra Bibi’s Pleas for Sentence Suspension

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has scheduled the hearing for PTI founder and Bushra Bibi’s petitions seeking suspension of their sentences in the *£190 million case, despite objections raised by the *Registrar’s Office.

A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Sardar Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif will hear the case *tomorrow. The petitions, filed through **Barrister Salman Safdar, request the *suspension of their sentences and release on bail until a final decision on their appeals.

The petitioners assured the court of their presence at every hearing if their sentences are suspended. They urged the IHC to *nullify the Accountability Court’s January 17 verdict, which sentenced the *PTI founder to 14 years in prison and Bushra Bibi to 7 years.

The appeals argue that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) acted *maliciously, misused its authority, and failed to obtain crucial documents from the UK’s **National Crime Agency (NCA). The defense claims that the prosecution **lacked complete evidence, leading to a *rushed verdict based on an incomplete investigation.

The petitioners have also requested the IHC to overturn their convictions and declare them not guilty.
