Islamabad Food Authority seals counterfeit butter factory

ISLAMABAD, Mar 26 : The Islamabad Food Authority (IFA) sealed a counterfeit butter factory on Tuesday, in a raid led by the Deputy Director of IFA.

Acting on a tip-off, a team from the IFA sealed the illegal manufacturing unit located in the Tiramiri area. The raid uncovered evidence of large-scale production of fake butter. Containers of sapti ghee, a potential adulterant, were seized from the premises.
The factory owner confessed to his crimes, admitting that he had been selling desi ghee, a type of clarified butter, for Rs. 1200 per kilogram while offering the counterfeit product at a significantly lower price of Rs. 500 per kilogram. Legal action has been initiated against the owner for violating food safety regulations.
IFA official said that this operation by the IFA highlights its commitment to safeguarding consumer health by cracking down on the production and sale of adulterated food items.
