Islamabad High Court has lifted the objection on the PTI founder’s plea challenging the military trial
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) cleared a significant hurdle for PTI founder Imran Khan by removing objections to his plea against a potential military trial and detention, according to ARY News.
The court instructed the registrar’s office to process the case and asked the federal government to provide a response by September 16. During the hearing, Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb expressed concern about the possibility of trying Khan, a civilian, in a military court.
The court also sought clarification from the federal government on whether it is considering a military trial for Khan and demanded a definitive stance on the issue.
The Additional Attorney General had initially requested that the objections to the plea be resolved before proceeding further. In response, the judge confirmed that the objections had been removed.
Justice Aurangzeb also noted that the Supreme Court has previously ruled on the trial of civilians in military courts. The hearing was adjourned until September 16, with a directive for the federal government to provide clear instructions by that date.
