Islamabad High Court Overturns Jail Trial Against Fawad Chaudhry for Election Commission Contempt

Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court has annulled the jail trial and indictment imposed on Fawad Chaudhry in the contempt case against the Election Commission and its Chief Commissioner.

The court, under Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz, declared the Election Commission's jail proceedings and the indictment against Chaudhry at Adiala Jail null and void. The Election Commission had charged both PTI founder Imran Khan and former Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry with contempt of the Election Commission on January 3, 2024.
