Jaffar Express operations suspended

Pakistan Railways has suspended the Jaffar Express service between Quetta and Peshawar, which was scheduled for December 25, due to security concerns, according to ARY News.

In a statement, Pakistan Railways explained that the decision to halt the train, which was supposed to depart from Quetta to Peshawar, was made in light of the current security situation. However, the Chaman train will continue its journey from Quetta as scheduled.

The railway management assured that all passengers affected by the suspension of Jaffar Express would receive full refunds.

This decision follows a troubling history of attacks targeting trains, including Jaffar Express, in Balochistan. In a tragic incident earlier this year, at least 26 people were killed and more than 40 others, including women and children, were injured in a bombing on the platform of Quetta’s railway station. Commissioner of Quetta, Hamza Shafqaat, reported that the explosion occurred at 8:25 am, leaving a trail of devastation in its wake.

The suspension of the Jaffar Express highlights the ongoing security challenges in the region, and the efforts to protect passengers in the face of these risks.
