JUI Chief declares to launch movement against election outcomes from April 25

ISLAMABAD, Mar 27: Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), has declared the initiation of a movement starting from April 25, vehemently rejecting the outcomes of recent elections.

In a statement, Maulana Fazlur Rehman asserted the party's refusal to acknowledge the election results, declaring their intent to commence the movement from Balochistan on April 25. Emphasizing their stance, he stated, "We do not recognize these election results." The movement, he clarified, will manifest in the form of public assemblies.

Citing reasons for their dissent, Maulana Fazlur Rehman criticized the current parliamentary representation, asserting it to be more aligned with the establishment than the populace. He also lamented the perceived impotence of the Election Commission, accusing it of failing to uphold its mandate in ensuring fair electoral processes. Furthermore, he alleged undue interference from various institutions, including civil bureaucracy and clandestine agencies, in the electoral affairs.

The JUI leader outlined the schedule of forthcoming events, stating that a meeting is scheduled in Pishin on April 25, followed by a public assembly in Karachi on May 2, and a rally in Peshawar on May 9. The date for a similar event in Lahore will be announced subsequently. Maulana Fazlur Rehman also expressed efforts to garner support from other political parties to consolidate the people's stance.

The announcement by Maulana Fazlur Rehman signals a significant development in the political landscape, with implications for the electoral process and broader democratic discourse in Pakistan.
