Karachi Unveils Smart Card Fare System for Public Transportation

KARACHI, Karachi's public transport system, specifically the People Bus service, is undergoing a modernization.
The Transport Department has officially launched an automated fare collection system utilizing smart cards. Passengers can now ditch cash and pay for their rides with the tap of a card.
This initiative, announced by Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, promises increased convenience and efficiency for commuters. While currently limited to PeopleBus, the smart card system is expected to expand to encompass other public transport options in the near future.
This rollout marks a significant step towards a more modern and streamlined public transportation experience in Karachi.
