Khurshid Shah questions Nawaz Sharif's candidacy for prime ministership
KARACHI, Feb 13: Senior Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leader Khurshid Shah emphasized the importance of maintaining integrity among independent candidates supported by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), urging against their manipulation or coercion. Shah expressed skepticism about Nawaz Sharif's potential return to the prime ministership, suggesting Shehbaz Sharif or Ayaz Sadiq as alternative candidates.
In his media talks on Tuesday, Shah stressed the need for prompt decisions regarding election matters, advocating for adherence to Form 45 protocols. He called for dialogue among all political parties and cautioned against manipulating independent PTI members, warning that such actions could lead to anarchy.
Furthermore, Shah ruled out PPP's alliance with elected members of other parties and highlighted the significance of PTI candidates joining a party to solidify their political status.
Regarding government formation, Shah indicated that discussions on the government and prime ministerial positions could only proceed once all seats are filled. He underscored the challenges that multiple parties could pose to government stability, particularly with PTI's undecided candidates.
