KP governor demands CM Gandapur to take vote of confidence
PESHAWAR, Sep 04: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has labeled the provincial government as a complete failure and called for Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to seek a vote of confidence.
In a media briefing, Kundi criticized the provincial administration for failing to appoint Vice-Chancellors to the region's 26 universities, emphasizing that this issue has led to the rejection of the provincial government's authority by the courts. He urged the government to resolve this issue swiftly, stating, "Do not play with the future of our youth."
Kundi also expressed concerns about the potential sale of university land, asserting that as long as he is in office, no university land will be sold. He questioned the rationale behind the sale, highlighting the long-term detrimental effects on educational institutions.
The Governor noted that the provincial assembly has been suspended four times and accused the Chief Minister of avoiding assembly sessions, suggesting a loss of confidence. He urged CM Gandapur to secure a confidence vote, expressing doubts about the Chief Minister's majority support in the province.
Regarding recent cabinet changes, Kundi demanded transparency, questioning why alterations are being made and if they are due to corruption or incompetence. He emphasized that he will not rush into signing any summary related to these changes and is seeking legal advice before taking any action.
