Lahore High Court Dismisses Petition Against Doctors' Strike in Government Hospitals

Lahore, June 27: The Lahore High Court has dismissed a petition challenging the ongoing doctors' strike in government hospitals, declaring it non-maintainable.

Justice Shahid Karim of the Lahore High Court presided over the hearing of a miscellaneous petition filed by citizen Mazhar Abbas.

The petition claimed that doctors were detained following a fire incident at Sahiwal Teaching Hospital. In response, the Young Doctors Association (YDA) initiated a strike in government hospitals on June 15.

The petitioner argued that the YDA strike has caused patients to suffer, moving from one hospital to another without receiving proper care. He requested the court to issue directives for the immediate end of the strike.

Justice Shahid Karim remarked that this issue falls within the government's purview, not the judiciary's.

Subsequently, the court dismissed the petition against the ongoing doctors' strike in government hospitals.
