Lawyers Protest Against Ad Hoc Judges Proposal in Supreme Court

Karachi: City Court witnessed a protest by the Insaf Lawyers Forum against the proposed appointment of ad hoc judges in the Supreme Court. The lawyers voiced their concerns, arguing that such appointments would hinder the delivery of justice.

Leading the protest, Barrister Fayyaz Soomro called on the Pakistan Bar Council to file a petition opposing the ad hoc judges. He asserted that the motives behind this proposal are political and highlighted the Supreme Court's decision in the Al-Jihad Trust case, which outlines the proper procedure for appointing judges.

"The appointment of ad hoc judges is tantamount to obstructing the delivery of justice," said Soomro, advocating for the permanent appointment of judges from the High Court instead. The protest underscores the legal community's insistence on maintaining judicial integrity and transparency.
