LESCO's 228-Day Campaign Recovers Rs. 3.4 Billion Worth of Stolen Power

LAHORE, May 07: Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has successfully completed its anti-electricity theft campaign spanning 228 days. According to the spokesperson, a total of 77,452 individuals were found involved in electricity theft, out of which cases were registered against 72,730 offenders, leading to the arrest of 30,461 culprits. The electricity thieves collectively tampered with 9,234,072 units, amounting to a monetary value of Rs. 3,418,322,367. During the past 24 hours, a total of 383 individuals were apprehended across the region for involvement in electricity theft. The connections seized included 12 commercial, 2 agricultural, and 369 domestic connections, which were disconnected. A total of 253,558 units were charged against them, with a value of Rs. 823,953,537. In specific areas, fines were imposed as follows: a connection in the Anarkali area incurred a fine of Rs. 500,000, while connections in the Race Course and Chungi areas faced fines of Rs. 70,000 each. Additionally, an offender in the Sanda area was charged Rs. 50,000.
