LHC orders prosecution of Nikah Khawn in child marriage case

LAHORE, May 14: The Lahore High Court on Tuesday has taken a firm stand against underage marriage, issuing orders for the prosecution of the Nikah Khawan involved. Justice Anwar-ul-Haq Pannu presided over a case concerning the marriage of a minor girl. During the court session, the girl, who was brought from Darul Aman, testified that she was forced into marriage at the age of 15. Despite her initial claim of consenting to the marriage, further inquiry revealed her age to be between 15 and 16 years. Responding to this revelation, Justice Anwar-ul-Haq Pannu swiftly directed a judicial magistrate to handle the matter expeditiously.
