MQM emphasizes need for visible transparency in elections

Karachi, Pakistan: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, alongside Mustafa Kamal, Aminul Haq, Rauf Siddiqui and other party leaders, held a press conference at Pakistan House, Karachi. They expressed concerns over the lack of transparency in elections and demanded early, impartial, and acceptable polls.
Siddiqui highlighted the city's loss of "real representation" due to past electoral irregularities, emphasizing the urgency of transparent elections for Karachi. He questioned the legitimacy of the current caretaker government in Sindh, calling it a mere continuation of the previous 15-year administration.
The MQM chief emphasized the need for visible transparency in elections, stating that the people of Karachi will not accept anything less. He specifically mentioned Ejaz Anwar Chauhan and Nisar Durrani as individuals who would not accept flawed elections.
Siddiqui further criticized the local governments of Hyderabad and Karachi, claiming they do not represent the cities. He warned that pre-poll rigging had already occurred and demanded its immediate rectification. If ignored, he suggested, the people will be left to decide their own course of action.
The MQM's press conference raises serious concerns about the fairness and transparency of upcoming elections in Karachi. Their demands for immediate action to ensure a level playing field highlight the potential for unrest if their concerns are not addressed.
