NAB Executive Board seals fate of six corruption cases in major sweep

ISLAMABAD, The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Executive Board, chaired by Chairman Aftab Sultan, has approved the closure of six high-profile corruption cases. This move marks a turning point in several long-running investigations, potentially offering respite to some prominent figures while raising questions about the course of justice in others.

The most notable closure comes in the Sharif Trust case, which had dogged former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family for years. NAB's decision effectively ends the investigation into alleged misappropriation of funds within the family trust.
Former Inspector General of Islamabad Police, Akbar Nasir Khan, finds relief as the inquiry into the Safe City project corruption charges stands closed. The project aimed to enhance security infrastructure in the capital but was marred by accusations of financial irregularities.
Officials of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) can breathe a sigh of relief as the investigation into a housing society scandal linked to land allotment irregularities also wraps up.
An inquiry into alleged favoritism in recruitment by federal government officials has been shut down. Specific details or individuals connected to this case remain unclear.
Two individuals, Shahid Malik and Shahbaz Yasin Malik, also benefit from the board's decision to close ongoing inquiries against them. The nature of these inquiries and the individuals' identities require further investigation.
