NDMA issues alert for heavy rain and flood warnings in KP

ISLAMABAD, July 12: The National Emergency Operations Center of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, warning of potential heavy rains in the next 24 hours.
According to the NDMA report, several districts, including Charsadda, Chitral, Lower and Upper Chitral, Mansehra, Peshawar, Shangla, and Swat, are expected to experience more rainfall. Continuous and intense rain could lead to urban flooding, overflowing streams, and rivers, and landslides in mountainous regions.
Authorities have alerted provincial agencies to prepare for emergencies, ensuring the availability of necessary equipment, machinery, and rescue personnel in the vulnerable areas.
The NDMA has urged the public to stay informed about the weather conditions and potential flooding and landslides, advising against crossing floodwaters or venturing into them. Tourists and travelers are also advised to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rains and potential flooding and landslide situations.
To ensure timely access to information and alerts, the NDMA has introduced the Pak NDMA Disaster Alert application.
