LAHORE, April 30: The Anti-Encroachment Special Squad has successfully eradicated more than 344 temporary obstructions from various zones of the city In a sweeping crackdown on encroachments across Lahore, This grand operation, aimed at reclaiming public spaces, marks a significant stride towards restoring the city's aesthetic appeal.
According to spokesperson, the squad issued 98 challans and warning notices to 50 individuals found guilty of encroachment violations, imposing fines totaling Rs 37,700. Additionally, 465 banners and streamers cluttering main roads and key areas were swiftly removed, enhancing the city's visual landscape.
Speaking on the matter, DC Lahore Rafia Haider emphasized the necessity of a focused, 5-day campaign targeting encroachments on vital highways, footpaths, and markets. Stressing the importance of maintaining Lahore's charm, she reaffirmed the administration's unwavering stance against the encroachment menace, garnering support from business entities for the rigorous action plan.
Highlighting the adverse effects of encroachments on traffic flow and public convenience, she underscored the pivotal role of metropolitan Lahore officers in spearheading field operations. Notably, collaboration with traffic police and other relevant institutions further bolsters the effectiveness of the anti-encroachment drive.
