Pakistan and Belarus Strengthen Bilateral Ties with Multiple Agreements on Defense and Trade

On Friday, Pakistan and Belarus signed several key agreements aimed at enhancing cooperation across multiple sectors, including defense, trade, and environmental protection. The landmark agreements were finalized during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s official visit* to Belarus, marking a significant step in the two countries’ growing diplomatic and economic relations.

Key Agreements Signed Between the Two Nations

The signing ceremony, which took place following Prime Minister Sharif’s meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, was witnessed by both leaders. They were accompanied by their respective delegations, and the discussions spanned various areas of bilateral cooperation as well as regional and international issues.

Among the agreements, the two countries signed the Readmission Agreement, designed to facilitate the safe and legal return of individuals between the two countries. In addition, an agreement was also reached between the interior ministries of Pakistan and Belarus to enhance cooperation in law enforcement and security.

Defense Cooperation Takes Center Stage

One of the most notable accords was a military cooperation agreement between the defense ministries of both countries. This agreement paves the way for enhanced collaboration in defense technology, training, and other military exchanges. The Ministry of Defense Production of Pakistan and Belarus’s State Authority for Military Industry also agreed on a *Military-Technical Cooperation Program for the years 2025-2027.

Pakistan’s Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan and Belarus’s Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin exchanged the documents related to this defense cooperation, which is expected to strengthen security ties and military collaboration between the two countries.

Expanding Ties in Trade and Other Sectors

In addition to defense, the two nations focused on trade development and cooperation. A series of agreements were signed to promote business support, postal services, and trade body cooperation between the countries, signaling a mutual commitment to enhancing economic relations.

Environmental protection also featured prominently in the agreements, with both nations pledging to work together to address climate-related challenges.
